Maputo and the South Coast

In the capital city of Maputo, you are never far from the coast. You can enjoy the refreshing sea breeze at the many restaurants serving locally caught seafood. Just a day trip away are the beaches of Macaneta and the Island of Inhaca, popular spots for diving and snorkelling.
Travellers to the South will enjoy the splendid beaches of Ponta do Ouro. This area is one of the best locations for diving in the world, with waters alive with dolphins, manta rays, and vibrant marine life.

Northern Coast and Island

To the North of Maputo, in the province of Gaza, are the famous beaches of Bilene and Xai-Xai. Their well-equipped resorts offer a choice of water sports, fishing, and relaxation in a luxurious setting.
Further up the coast, around the city of Inhambane, are Tofo and many other secluded beaches, some only accessible by four-wheel-drive vehicle.
For those looking for a perfect island escape, the Bazaruto Archipelago offers luxury and pristine marine life, while the more remote Quirimbas Archipelago delivers untouched beaches and barefoot charm. These islands are treasures for diving, snorkelling, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of Mozambique’s waters.

Wildlife and Adventure

Mozambique isn’t just about the coast. Gorongosa National Park in the central region is a highlight for wildlife enthusiasts. Elephants, lions, hippos, and a variety of birdlife roam the park, making it a spectacular destination for safaris that feel intimate and adventurous.
