2012 – East Africa & the Great Migration
Katrina revisited East Africa, travelling from Nairobi to Lewa Downs, the Masai Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. She witnessed the Mara River Crossings at migration time and ended the journey with a Gorillas trek, her second time trekking for gorillas. |
“The Masai Warriors danced for us on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater - it made the whole world stand still. It brought tears to my eyes.”

2013 – South Africa & Game Reserves
In 2013, Katrina went on an exploratory trip to Madikwe Game Reserve, Sun City, and onwards to Kruger National Park, visiting Sabi Sands and Thornybush Private Game Reserves. She visited Sir Richard Branson’s award-winning Ulusaba Safari Lodges as well as Royal Malewane, renowned for its high-level cuisine and exceptional game viewing. The journey rounded off with time in cosmopolitan Cape Town and a relaxing break along the Garden Route. |

2014 – The Beauty of Botswana
In 2014, Katrina revisited Botswana for a heavenly week on safari, traversing through Khwai, Moremi, and the Okavango Delta. “To spend time chilling out at a water camp in the delta was like a ‘holiday within my safari’ – totally soothing for the soul. The colours, the water, the reeds, the small surprises, the sunrises, the sunsets… amazing; something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.” After Botswana, Katrina attended the We Are Africa Travel Show in Cape Town - the first of its kind. A major highlight was a sunrise hike up Lion’s Head on the first day of the conference. “Now that is what I call a great day in the office!” |
|
2015 – The Land of Smiles: Malawi
In 2015, Katrina revisited Malawi, going on safari at Mkulumadzi Lodge in Majete Wildlife Reserve — Malawi’s best-known game reserve. “It’s so much fun staying at this lodge — located between two rivers, surrounded by the soothing sounds of water, with brilliant game viewing right from your room. And the approach to the lodge is via a swing bridge!” Afterwards came rest and relaxation at Lake Malawi and the heavenly Pumulani Lodge, complete with beach dinners under the stars and speedboat trips to snorkelling spots. “Malawi has left me with refreshed and lasting memories - the beautiful people and landscapes of the land of smiles.” |
|
2016 – Victoria Falls & Kenya
In 2016, it was Victoria Falls and Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, in the spotlight. Katrina spent five nights in Hwange visiting lodges and game-viewing her way around the park. “The walking safaris were fantastic - I even got up close to elephants on foot!” Time in Victoria Falls was “out of this world” — with a Flight of Angels helicopter, Tour of the Falls, and a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River. Later that year, Katrina returned to Kenya — spending a week in the Masai Mara, Naboisho, Olare, and Mara North Conservancies. “It was an action-packed week of excellent game viewing that only ‘The Mara’ is famous for. Complete with a hot air balloon safari on the last day — a trip of a lifetime.” She continued her annual tradition of visiting Cape Town, saying: “The Mother City never disappoints - it’s cosmopolitan, groovy and simply… a happening little place.” |
|
2017 – The Zambezi & Beyond
In 2017, Katrina explored the Lower Zambezi National Park and Livingstone (Victoria Falls) in Zambia, as well as Chobe National Park in Botswana. “I’m so lucky to see and experience so many safari destinations. It’s hard to pick my favourite place, but one thing’s for sure - I adore game viewing and the incredible people I meet along the way.” |
|
2019 – Back to Africa
2019’s highlight was a journey through South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. Starting with a helicopter over Table Mountain, she continued into Timbavati and Sabi Sands for some up-close leopard viewing, then ended with relaxation on the Zambezi River while the Victoria Falls were in full flood. |

2023 – New Adventures
In April 2023, Katrina visited Los Angeles before boarding the Scenic Eclipse for a cruise through Mexico and the Baja Peninsula. “The Scenic Eclipse was incredible — super luxurious with outstanding service. The scenery was glorious, from the coastlines to charming little towns. The perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.” In December 2023, she embarked on a trip of a lifetime to South America and Antarctica. “Sailing through Antarctica was unforgettable - glaciers, icebergs, penguins… It was one of the most awe-inspiring places I’ve ever been. I could watch the penguins all day long!” |
