Victoria Falls is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

It is the 'adventure capital' of Africa offering a huge variety of extreme sporting and leisure activities ranging from sunset cruises on the mighty Zambezi River to Bungi Jumping from the Zambezi Bridge.

The spectacular views obtained by taking a helicopter or light aircraft 'flight of the angels' are truely unforgettable.

Less adventurous visitors will enjoy walking through the National Park to view the falls where there are excellent vantage points from both the Zimbabwe and Zambian sides.

Victoria Falls are the widest curtain of falling water on earth, with the Zambezi River more than two kilometres wide at the point it mets the falls. They are twice as high and one and a half times as wide as Niagara Falls.

The falls range in height from 60 to 110 metres and are divided into five separate falls, the Devils Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and the Eastern Cataract.

The spray from the falls can be seen more than 20 kilometres away and at peak flow (usually mid April) can rise 450 metres into the air. This is why the falls are aptly named ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ - the smoke that thunders. Waterproof cameras and raincoats are essential items at this time of the year!

At low water in October/November the flow can be reduced to around 10 million litres per minute and the river is divided into a series of channels that descend in many separate falls. This is when viewing of the gorge itself is at its best and when the World Championship for White Water Rafting take place.

The towns of Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) & Livingstone (Zambia) are vibrant tourist destinations with numerous accommodation options ranging from budget hotels through to luxury lodges. There are many shops, markets and restaurants to entertain.
