Mauritius is a beautiful tropical island in the Indian Ocean. Its culture is a mixture of many influences, from French Creole and Muslim to Chinese and Indian. White sandy beaches and crystal clear water make it an idyllic spot to relax on the way to Africa or after a safari. With activities such as diving, snorkeling, fishing and water sports, you can do as much or as little as you like when visiting Mauritius.

There are many first class resorts which offer spectacular cuisine and service making Mauritius a unique and cosmopolitan stopover destination. Air Mauritius fly to Mauritius once a week (and sometimes twice depending on the time of year) and have daily connections to Africa. Their airfares are very reasonably priced and they are a very comfortable airline to fly from Australia to Africa, via Mauritius. British Airways and South African Airways fly to Mauritius from Johannesburg, so a side trip across to Mauritius is also easily done.
